HIGHLIGHTS OF 2011

Our Annual show in August was very successful.  Despite a difficult growing season we were delighted with the number and quality of the exhibits

 In  early September a coach party of members and friends visited Wisley Gardens to admire the late season colours - a very enjoyable day out

Review of 2010

Saturday15 May 2010 - Plant Sale and Scarecrow Competition was held at Witts Hill Allotment, Summit Way, Southampton

The plant sale was very well supported

                 

Our annual plant sale is increasing in popularity every year. It provides an opportunity to swap tips, meet old friends and pick up good quality plants at reasonable prices - all grown by our members for allotmenteers and gardeners.
This year we are also held our first scarecrow competition.



ANNUAL SHOW

THE  SAGA ANNUAL SHOW

SATURDAY 14 AUGUST 2010 - An extremely well supported event with a large number of entries and visitors. We were pleased to see so many people taking an interest in our show. Thank you all for making the event such a success.

Our annual show is not just a flower and vegetable competition, there are a variety of classes including cookery, handicrafts and photography, a section for children's entries, plus the sale of produce and a raffle .

Southampton & District  Bee Keepers also hold their annual competitions at the same time and have jars of delicious honey and quality wax products for sale                         

Congratulations to all our winners and thank you to everybody who entered the classes and to those who worked so hard behind the scenes to make the day such a success.

We were pleased to welcome our President Mr Gerald Morgan who presented the cups and trophies to the winners

Saturday 9 October - The Jubilee Sailing Trust Festival at Royal Victoria Country Park

Our stall attracted a lot of interest and did a roaring trade in hot pumpkin soup

A good turn out of entries in all classes made judging the carving section close as the standard was very high - Congratulations to the winners and our thanks to all those who supported the event and enjoyed the hot dogs and pumpkin soup
